Graduation Day!!!

Preschool graduation, that is...

Yesterday was Riley's last day of preschool. As she was eating her breakfast I asked her if they had been practicing for graduation. She said no. I said, "Haven't you been singing and walking...wearing a little hat?" Again, she said no. I said, "Well, everybody else has, what have you been doing?" Without hesitation, she said, "Sniffing my pink rag." This is hysterical to me, because that's probably exactly what she's been doing during practice. I probably need to explain that for some people, but that's another post ;)

Here she is...the pink rag is tucked under her chin.

and they had a little ceremony...mortar board and all ;)

They sang a few songs. You'll see in the picture that Riley has her head turned to the side. Once she realized I had the camera turned on, she looked away and stayed in that position for approximately three songs. I hope her neighbor liked her singing voice. Caeley laughed and said it was awful, but I love it. I am capturing true history here...I'd rather catch her as she really is, than have her put on a one-day show.

The teachers read a little something about each child as they received their diplomas. Here is what they said about Riley. I think it's precious, although it may be a bit of a hindrance to her finding a husband one day ;) He's going to have to have a missionary heart, for sure!

Following the ceremony was, in Riley's mind, the only thing that mattered about the whole event...CAKE!!!

Baby loves cake!!

I was able to get a few pictures of Riley, but she did put up a fuss. She really just wanted to eat cake. I got one with each of her teachers, and with her BFF. The one she dreamed of walking down a path filled with pink flowers alongside.

Her teachers were fabulous this year. They were very patient and sweet, considering I had to physically carry Riley into her class every day from the first day to the last. She would go in with a frown and come out smiling by the time I picked her up. I can only hope they will still be there when the next two come through.

As far as the pic of her with her buddy, I'm not sure how I feel about the arm around the neck, but whatever. Dave and I were talking last night, and I don't know if I would say it was fun, but I did enjoy it. It was memorable. And it was classic Riley Grace and we got it on film.

**Disclaimer - I know the spacing is funky...could it be any more difficult to upload pictures to Blogger?
