Last year was the last Daddy Daughter Date night that Caeley was eligible to go to, since she's 13; but, this is the first year Riley is old enough to go, since she turned 4. We didn't dare mention it to her until today, because since she has no real concept of time she would have pestered us to no end about being ready to go NOW!
She was so very excited about the "dance party," as she called it. I bought her a new dress yesterday and surprisingly she really liked it. She just got her hair cut so we were able to curl it and she wore it down - she almost always has it in a ponytail because it's usually a little hard to manage, but the cut made a huge difference. Here she is, waiting patiently.
I love her crooked little smile.
And here she is with Daddy
Poor Corban burst into tears when they left because he wanted to go bye-bye, too, but we watched Blues Clues and played the Memory game so he was fine. While we were playing Memory he made a match - two birthday cakes - and promptly began trying to "skidoo" into the cards. He said, "I'm trying to go in there." He did the little dance and everything - it was priceless and he was pretty upset it didn't work. If it works for Steve why can't he do it? Reality is a hard pill to swallow.
Daddy and Riley had a lot of fun dancing and then they finished up at Toomer's Coffee with frozen hot chocolates. Isn't Daddy a good date?
